Les Bouffons is a popular tune from Orchesographie - a manual of Renaissance social dances written by a French cleric Jehan Tabourot (1519-1595) under a pen name Thoinot Arbeau. This arrangement for beginner string orchestra is based on D major scale in the first position and features a range of bow strokes and techniques: staccato, legato, accents and quick switches between arco and pizzicato.
