Boris Dubossarsky (1947-2017) was a prominent Moldavian Soviet composer, violin and viola performer, and string pedagogue. His compositional output encompassed a range of styles and genres, including works for symphony orchestra, chamber ensemble, choir, vocal chamber music, theater, music for children, television, and solo instruments.
Boris Dubossarsky's compositions for violin include Sonata for Violin Solo, short pieces for violin and piano, multiple chamber works, and a Violin Concerto. Dubossarsky wrote the concerto in 2015 for his student, the brilliant violin performer Ilian Garnet, who premiered the piece in Chisinau, Moldova, in 2016, just one year before the composer’s death.
